Condition: Very good. The team, the most-recognized producers of automotive advertising of the period, would often work on a single piece of illustration board. In this instance, the car is executed on a separate sheet which has been mounted onto the background illustration board. Most likely this was done as a result of an overly hectic schedule or, perhaps, because some change was called for in the design of the car itself. At some point in its life, the front wheel of the painting of the car suffered a slight bend and resulted in a small loss of gouache... while tempted, I made no attempt to have it treated.

Comment: Generally speaking, works by Fitz and Van fall into two categories: those intended for publication in magazines and those for distribution to the automotive trade, as opposed to the general public. Those created for the trade, which would include brochure art for dealers are usually not signed. I've been keeping an eye on Ebay for the printed piece and have yet to find it. Rest assured though that if I do locate it, the printed version will be included in the sales price.
