| Artist: Alureda “Pete” Baumhofer Description: Marching band. Caption: none Publication information: One of several designs that the artist did for Tiny Tower magazine in the 1930s. It’s not readily known whether this particular image was reproduced on the magazine cover, or not. Medium: Ink and gouache Size: 11.5 x 8.5” (including lettering at edges) Signature: not signed. Condition: Scattered small accretions that do not detract. Unframed. Comment: The artist was the wife of Walter Baumhofer, “The King of the Pulps”. While not as widely known as Walter, her work shows a strong sense of design coupled with a playful attitude. Her career which spanned six decades focused primarily on fashion and children’s illustration. She also excelled in fabric design. Price: $600. |
