Comment:
Though less well known than fellow Howard Pyle students, including NC Wyeth and Frank Schoonover, Shrader was an accomplished artist in his own right and a fine storyteller very much in the tradition of Pyle’s teachings. His illustration works are very scarce on the market having moved to California in 1917 where he taught at Otis Art Institute and became a respected landscape painter.

$3,800.
