Artist: Felix Fournery (1865-1938)

Description: Two fashionable women standing in the park.

Caption: [not known]

Publication information: Likely an advertisement, probably published in poster form for a French clothier.

Medium: Gouache on board

Size: 18 x 17”

Signature: Signed and dated (’09) lower left.

Condition: Board is somewhat browned and there are some areas of crackling paint, particularly in lower left. Considering how old it is and the fact that it wasn’t particularly made to last, it’s quite good. Nicely framed and ready to display.

Comment: Fournery’s printed posters routinely sell at levels approaching the asking price for this original. The fact that it’s signed with the word “Atelier” likely means that other members of his studio executed specific parts of the composition as was often the norm.

Price: $3,500.
