Civil War battle scene—probably showing the third Battle of Winchester, VA also known as The Battle of Opequon.

Most likely for the old Life magazine, ca. 1920’s.

Signature:
signed lower right.

Condition:
The sheet shows foxing and grime, mainly evident at edges. These issues do not effect the appeal of the picture, but could easily be remedied by a paper conservator. Unframed.

Comment:
Crawford, who had a knack for combining the historically accurate with humorous caricature, was fascinated by the American West and was a long-time friend of Charles Russell.
