Caption: none Publication information: Paperback book cover for Swiss Family Robinson, by Johann Wyss published by Dell Books, late 1960s or 1970s. Medium: Gouache Size: 9.5 x 5.75” Signature: not signed. Condition: Excellent, matted and framed though could use an upgrade. Comment: There’s scarcely been an illustrator who approaches the level of detail on a small scale that is the hallmark of Huens’ works. This is a perfect example of why his work must be seen in person to be appreciated. There are layers of information here that are particularly remarkable when one considers the large amount of published work that he produced. Sorry not to be able to quote an exact date of publication. This classic has been reprinted so many times that establishing the specific year and publisher’s number is daunting. Perhaps someone out there has this information and is willing to share it. Price: $1,900. |
