Publication information: Story illustration for “Sunday at 8” by George Pert. Published in November 1952 issue of Redbook magazine.

Condition: Light surface dirt, board chipping well outside of image area, overall good, not framed.

Comment: Varady came to illustration from a fashion design background and his work frequently showed the very latest in clothing design. It is the attention to the details of dress and decoration that really make this image. But until one reads the story, there's the lingering question: Whose shoe is that anyway? Is it the young man's, whose fondness for such things has just been discovered by his kid sister? This just might be an example of a cross-dressing story for a general interest magazine.
