Description: Standing Empress with sword, dragon nearby

Comment: The illustrator, who was recently profiled in Illustration magazine had a fruitful career in illustrating all manner of fantasy and science fiction subjects. With his typically smooth approach to painting the figure and his flair for bizarre creatures –parenthetically, I think that the dragon is the Empress' pet and mascot, rather than a threat--- there's no mistaking the style. Despite the artwork's level of completion, it was apparently never published… Of course I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who knows otherwise. Many times a stray wisp of hair, a falling leaf or just about anything the right size could be used to cover just enough female anatomy to allow the piece to be printed. In this instance no logical solution is evident and because of this it likely never saw the printing press. Sorry about the glare on the photos… particularly the close-up of the dragon… a highly reflective piece making it a challenge to photograph. I will add this too… those who've seen my offerings in person and not just on the website know that everything looks better in person.
