Comment: As a general premise, I don’t sell much by illustrators who are still alive and kicking. There are a number of reasons that don’t need discussion here. Suffice it to say that a big one is the fact that it’s easier to gauge prices of things that are in my wheelhouse. I do know this… a former owner of this art bought it directly from the illustrator about 20 years ago for $25,000. It’s changed hands since which helps explain why it’s not $25,000 anymore. Dean’s original finished, published works seem to rarely come to the open market. That in turn means don’t miss your opportunity.
